I’ll keep you guys posted :)
Last Friday was the first Darfur Clubs meeting of the 2009/2010 year.
We discussed our goals for the year, and projects that we plan to do this year. Our two main priorites are to;
- educate the community about the crisis in Darfur, and
- work to contribute towards a solution
We hope to do this by making Darfur higher in the U.S.’s priorities, both locally and on a national level.
We want to get CHS educated on and involved in the crisis by - recruiting new club members
- coordinating/working with other clubs
Our projects and project ideas for this year;
- T-shirts sales
- taking Field trips to Darfur rallies, and perhaps stage a local rally
- running a table at the FM
- having a yard sale
- finishing up our protest video, and posting it on youtube.com
- passing out pamphlets with more detailed information on the conflict
- having bakesales
- a possible visitor

Sudan Ending the crisis in Darfur and ensuring Sudan’s long-term stability through the implementation of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement is a top priority for the Obama Administration. The humanitarian crisis there makes our task all the more urgent. The President has appointed a Special Envoy for Sudan as a strong signal of his commitment to support the people of Sudan. We are committed to working with the international community to end the suffering, seek a lasting settlement to the violence, and ensure a stable and secure future for the region. —

I swore never to be silent whenever and wherever human beings endure suffering and humiliation. We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented. — Elie Wiesel, author, in his Nobel Peace Prize acceptance speech
